5 Things to Always Include in Your Product Listings
(So Customers Don’t Leave With Questions)
A confused customer doesn’t buy. And nothing confuses customers faster than a vague product listing.
If your product page doesn’t answer the most basic questions, people will click away — even if your product is amazing.
Here are 5 things you should always include in every listing to make more sales and fewer returns:
1. Clear Product Name
Clear Product Name
Instead of “Cool Shirt,” try: “Men’s Cotton T-Shirt – Black, Breathable, S–XL”
Keep it short, specific, and easy to understand. Include keywords your ideal customer might search.
2. Price (and What’s Included)
Price (and What’s Included)
Example: “R120 for 1 mug. Add R20 for a custom name.”
Never assume the price is obvious. Also mention:
- If it’s per item or per set
- What’s included
- If custom options change the price
3. Sizes, Dimensions, or Volume
Sizes, Dimensions, or Volume
The more specific, the better — even handmade items.
This is one of the most overlooked details, and one of the most important. Always include:
- Clothing sizes or fit guides
- Product height, width, and weight
- Quantity (especially for consumables)
4. Materials or Ingredients
Materials or Ingredients
Example: “Made from eco-cotton and natural dyes.”
Customers care what things are made of — for quality, allergies, durability, or values.
Example: “Made from eco-cotton and natural dyes.”
This is especially key for clothing, skincare, food, gifts, toys, and anything handmade.
5. Delivery Info or Collection Options
Delivery Info or Collection Options
The more specific, the better — even handmade items.
Even a short line like “Ships in 2–3 days” or “Pickup in Centurion available” gives customers clarity.
Add courier options, costs (if known), and if collection is free.
Final Thought:
Every listing should answer the basic questions customers would ask in person. The more clear you are, the more likely they’ll buy.
And if you’re not sure? Ask yourself: “Would I feel confident buying this?”
